Startup Troubleshooting

No Power

If you've inserted batteries in your umbrella and you still don't see any flashing lights on the handle, the device has not powered up. Try replacing the batteries - you should immediately see the handle of the umbrella light up.

Stuck at Startup

After you have inserted batteries and the umbrella's lights are moving steadily around in a circle, you need to register and configure your device. Create an account at www.myambient.com to register the umbrella. Once you've logged into your account, choose the 'Select Content' option next to the picture of your device to set the umbrella's forecast location.

Within minutes of selecting a forecast city for your umbrella, the blue lights on the device's handle will stop circling. This means that your umbrella is now tracking weather for the city you've chosen.

Battery

If there is a red light flashing next to the battery icon on the handle, please change the battery for optimal performance.

Settings Selection

After you change the location that your umbrella is tracking, the lights on the handle will begin to blink much more rapidly than usual to indicate that a change has occurred. Press the blue button on the umbrella handle to return the device to its weather display pattern.

Reception

The Umbrella relies on the Ambient network to get its data. If you are receiving a strong signal, you will see a green flashing light next to the signal icon on the handle. If you are in an area where the signal strength is inadequate, you will notice a quick flash of red next to the signal icon. If this is occurring, please refer to the coverage map (see above) to view coverage in your area. If your location is covered but you do not see a green light night to your umbrella's signal indicator, try moving the device to another location (often closer to a window) in order to receive the strongest signal possible.
